What are the Keystones?

State required proficiency testing

Replaces the PSSA—must repeatedly take test until proficiency is reached

Who takes the test now?

All 10

th and 11th graders – Algebra and Literature

Select 9

th graders – Algebra

What if I’m a 9th grader "not selected"?

During this testing time you will be assigned to a C hallway computer room to prepare for the Keystone exams that you will take in May. Room assignments are posted with the testing room assignments.

When are they given?

Algebra—Monday 12/3 & Tuesday 12/4 periods 1,2,3

Literature- Wednesday 12/5 & Thursday 12/6 periods 1,2,3

Where do I go to test?

Assigned testing rooms are posted in the cafeteria, gym, auditorium and office lobbies.

What do I need to bring?

Yourself, Calculator & Pencil – incentives will be given out for perfect attendance.

Incentives include: college logo items, Kennywood passes, semi/prom tickets, sporting event passes, bonus points

Keep your phone at home or in your locker on test day!

T he safest place for electronic devices/phones is locked in your locker or left at home during the testing period. The test administration staff has the right to collect and hold cell phones and other prohibited electronic devices during the Keystone exam administration, including during break periods. Test proctors will provide a designated location in the classroom for students to leave electronic devices during testing; however, West Mifflin Area School district is not responsible for loss or damage to personal items, including electronic devices, while you are in the test center. BEST PLACE IS TO LEAVE THEM IN YOUR LOCKER!!!

If your device makes noise, or you are seen using it at any time, including during breaks, the device will be confiscated. Refusal to relinquish electronic devices when prompted will result in an automatic 3 day suspension.
